DIY Calligraphy Scroll

My favorite time of year has to be fall. But since living in Houston, I’ve found most of the nostalgic fall activities that I grew up with just aren’t a thing in the south. Apple orchards are non-existent, pumpkin patches are hard to find, and I have not found one single pile of crunchy leaves to jump in with the kids. But we’ve made the most with what we have: we still carve pumpkins, we wear our Halloween costumes without worrying about covering up with a jacket (bonus!), and enjoy the cooler temps (even if it is still 70 degrees).

One of my first crafts of the season was this easy Kraft Paper bucket list scroll. I found Kraft Paper rolls at the dollar store and used my calligraphy skills to write out our bucket list for the fall season in black sharpie. It was such an easy project and not to mention CHEAP! Don’t worry if you still need to perfect your calligraphy skills, as practice makes perfect!

I loved using it as a table runner for my fall tablescape! The possibilities are endless.

I hope you checked everything off your fall bucket list for the year, I know we did!

xoxo,
Leanna

[…] Over the season, I tend to change around my decor quite a few times. Some days I am all about the pumpkins, and other days I prefer a clean simple fall look. For this look, I eliminated most of the pumpkins but hung my DIY fall bucket list to still give the perfect fall feel. If you missed my DIY scroll tutorial make sure you check it out here. […]

Hi Leanna! Congrats on the blog! I’m curious how you learned to write calligraphy. I definitely feel like I could do it, but I’m not sure where to start for practicing. Did you have a specific website or book that helped you find the style that you like? Thanks!

Hi Courtney! I took a class at a local art studio to learn the basics. From there it was lots of practice! I also watched you tube videos. You can see if there are any hand lettering classs near you and go from there.
