Welcome to my Holiday Home Tour! I look forward to the holiday season each year, not only because I love the true meaning of Christmas, but also because I love to decorate my home for the holidays. Your home is a true backdrop for all of your holiday events, from tree decorating to gift wrapping, and to baking cookies and throwing parties parties, your home sets the stage for all your holiday activities.
If you have just arrived from, Kenyatta My Design Rules, I am so glad you decided to say hello. Kenyatta has a beautiful home and I am sure she inspired you in your Christmas decor.
Come along with me and take a holiday home tour. I hope to get your creative juices flowing in decorating your own home for the holidays. Throughout the tour, I will provide budget-friendly and easy tips that will have you ready for guests in no time at all.
This post contains some of my favorite products and vendors for your shopping convenience.
Well, lets begin with the front entrance.
For my front door this year, I took an old wreath from a few years ago, and added berries from hobby lobby and a simple burlap bow. I then added a monogram that I already had and placed it in the middle. I am all about using what you have to create new ideas. Not only is it fun to try to create something new but it is also budget friendly!
Lets head on in the front door, grab yourself a cup of coffee or even a glass of wine and come on in. I hope you decide to stay awhile!
The first room on my tour is my sitting room. This room, which is right off the front door, is the first room people see when stepping into my home. It is also my favorite room of my house. Although, it doesn’t get used nearly enough, I love to sit here when the kids are in bed and have a glass of wine, or two.
When decorating this room, I tired to use as much as what I had from the year before. My tree, which is from last year I kept very simple, I just added a few strands of beaded garland and added a Santa tree topper, from hobby lobby.
I also love to decorate with pillows. I am always changing my pillows for each season. To try and save on space, I only buy the pillow cover and then switch out the covers for each season. My all time favorite place to shop for seasonal pillow covers is Linen & Ivory.
My favorite wall in my home is the shiplap wall in this room. I would put shiplap in every room if my hubby would let me! I found these beautiful wood arches at Kirklands and decorated them with simple green wreaths with a burlap bow.
I love making handlettered wood signs in my free time, and this Merry and Bright sign below is one that I made this year to fit this space.
If you head around the corner from this room you will come to the heart of our home, the living room.
Alas, the room where my fully decorated Christmas tree lives. This is our favorite room to watch tv and relax as a family. I decorated our King of Christmas flocked tree this year with items I found mostly at Target and Hobby Lobby.
Since my two littles love to pull ornaments off the tree, I made sure everything was kid friendly! If only they would stop pulling at the ribbon!
I topped the tree with a Merry Christmas banner from hobby lobby. I usually stay away from color but I am loving the pops of red in my home this year.
The cute little trees in buckets are from Wal-mart. I was amazed this year at all the great holiday items Wal-mart had. The little tin buckets are from kirklands but you can find any bucket or basket around your home to put them in.
Although we don’t use our fireplace nearly enough here in Houston, I still love the way it anchors the rest of the room.
When we first moved in, the stone surrounding our fireplace was a range in color from orange to brown. I wanted to make the stone more modern so we decided to whitewash it grey. I do have to give my hubby most of the credit for this because he did have to convince me. I was scared we would screw it up!
I love the way the red really pops in this room. Year round my home is always very neutral but Christmas is the one and only time I decorate with color.
We have a lot of railing in our home, and this was the first year I used garland on the entire space. I added simple bows, eucalyptus, red wood beads and a few strands of more greenery from hobby lobby to create different textures and dimension.
Lets head around the corner where I would love to show you my favorite retreat.
Welcome to our bedroom – The space where we cuddle every morning while I chug my coffee before I start the day. This is the first year I have ever decorated my bedroom and I have to say I am so glad I did. Having the Christmas lights illuminate the room every night and morning makes the room so warm and cozy. It gives me all the FEELS!
If you noticed, I have a bit of a trend this year, neutrals with pops of red. I added some holiday throw pillows and blankets to give this room the perfect Christmas touch.
I added some garland to the headboard and some simple wreaths above each night stand. Just a little bit of greenery can get your bedroom in the holiday spirit.
Our bedroom rug is like a warm cozy winter sweater and is perfect for the colder months. It is so soft on my feet, especially when I get out of bed in the morning. You can find the link to this rug here.
The next stop on our tour for today is our kitchen. Our kitchen has come a long way since we moved in. One day I’ll get around to showing a complete before and after tour of our home. You probably wont believe it is actually the same house. This year is the first year in our newly renovated kitchen and I loved adding little Christmas touches.
I added a garland above the kitchen window and added a small strand of fairy lights. Fairy lights are my most favorite product this season as they give any space a new look.
This season I added bows all over my home. In my kitchen I added a bow on the Magnolia wreath above the stove, tied on some copper cookie cutters to the round bread board, and added the wreath to my dishwasher. I couldn’t help but to also add more copper to my home decor on my kitchen tablescape.
This spot is always a hard place to photograph with all the natural light coming in from the windows but I wanted to give you a full view of our eat in kitchen nook all decorated for christmas.
I added wreaths to the windows, chalk art to the chalkboard, and created a new holiday tablescape using items I had around the house.
These napkins are so adorable and I found them here on etsy. I tied bows around cinnamon sticks and added a simple name tag. The music sheet was just an extra addition to create some more depth and texture to the space.
For my centerpiece I used copper tea kettles and stuffed them with frosted greenery. I placed them in a vintage crate and added more flocked greens and berries.
I kept this space casual and kid friendly since it is the table we use on a daily basis.
The girls think its quite funny to have the zebra head on the top of the tree.
I decorated our favorite play tent and added Christmas stuffed animals that used to be mine when I was a little girl.
The train around the bottom of the tree was supposed to be a Christmas gift, but my husband was too excited that we let the girls open it when we got home from Disney world.
Well there you have it! I shared my sitting room, living room, bedroom, kitchen and play room on today’s Holiday home tour. I hope you enjoyed getting a better view of my home and how I decorated it for the holiday season this year.
My dinning room got a small makeover last week and I can’t wait to show you more of my Christmas tablescape.
I am decorating my table with fresh greens this year, and let me tell you, this room smells AMAZING!
I will be adding LOTS more greenery to this space, I am patiently waiting for it all to arrive. But for now, the simple greenery from the eucalyptus paired with these antique brass candlesticks creates a simple Christmas tablescape.
Now hop on over for some more gorgeous Christmas inspiration from Dabbling & Decorating. Ann is so talented and has some amazing spaces in store for you!
As always, thanks for stopping by!
